Alaska Tourism
Alaska is a state that holds much mystery. After all, as America’s northern most state it is one that many will never get to visit, but yet hold a great fascination about. It is the largest state and has acres of land where you will find amazing animals, unique plants and people whose history and lineage can be traced back for many years. When one thinks of the pleasures of Alaska tourism, elegant cruise ships, elaborate hunting trips, and energetic wilderness adventures such as hiking, rafting and dog sledding come to mind.
Alaska is easily divided into 5 regions: the south central area which is composed of Anchorage, Prince William Sound and other delightful locations; the Interior which is home to Mt. McKinley, Fairbanks and the Alaskan Highway; the Far North which comprises miles of coastline; the Southwest region where you can visit the Alaskan Peninsula, the Aleutian Islands, the Kodiak Archipelago and other offshore island locations; and the Inside Passage region with Glacier Bay. In fact, Alaska touts itself as having:
- More mountains than buildings
- More wildlife than people
- More glaciers than stop lights
- The tallest mountains
- The largest area of national parks
- Longest stretch of coastline in all the United States
Visitors to Alaska will find the natural beauty to leave a long lasting impression of delight and discovery, no matter which direction you roam, or how you do it-cruise, hiking, sledding or driving. You can visit the Yukon, travel the Seward Highway, watch a dance demonstration by the Alaskan Natives, or even pan for gold. If you are looking for the adventure of the city then spend some time in Juneau, Skagway, Girdwood, Fairbanks or Nome where you will find museums, cultural arts and fine dining and accommodations. But whatever you do, don’t miss an opportunity to visit the massive and magnificent American treasure. Come North to Alaska!
